Corporate policy

We place great importance on having good company management in the sense of having effective corporate governance.

The priority for us and our employees is to take into consideration the principles of ethics, integrity and sustainability in our corporate actions and comply with current laws, the Public Corporate Governance Code of the State of Saxony and voluntary self-imposed obligations. The relevant standards are formulated in our “Group Compliance Guidelines”, which are binding for all the bodies and employees within the MFAG Group. The goal is to anchor responsible and legitimate business practices in all the Group’s companies as the basis for long-term corporate success. At the same time, the Group guidelines help to protect our companies and employees from any infringements against administrative and criminal law stipulations within the field of governance in their official work and avoid any morally questionable practices.

We have developed fundamental working principles together with the employees of MFAG.

In general terms, the Compliance Guidelines help to communicate some understanding of how the administrative, management and supervisory bodies are involved in shaping, monitoring, promoting and assessing the corporate culture. This includes an understanding of the company’s ability to minimise negative effects and maximise positive effects in conjunction with its business conduct and monitor and manage the risks associated with this.

The Free State of Saxony, the State of Saxony-Anhalt as well as the cities of Leipzig, Dresden and Halle/Saale are the MFAG shareholders. Representatives of the federal states, rural districts and local communities are also members of the MFAG Supervisory Board, alongside experts from the business world and from the employee side.

The “Communications & Political Relations“ department is responsible for establishing and maintaining relations with political and business stakeholders within the Group. The department acts as the interface between the company and political decision-makers. Its tasks include making contact with politicians, government agencies, political parties as well as other relevant stakeholders – and maintaining these relations. The department also helps to represent the interests of MFAG through political analyses, public relations work and dialogue with various interest groups.

Sponsoring and donations are an important tool for us to exercise our regional responsibility. Our two airports at Leipzig/Halle and Dresden focus on the major issues of education, environmental protection, sports, culture and social issues. They support associations, organisations and projects in the areas close to the airports. These include schools, child care centres and charitable associations, which in the main actively work with children and young people and provide a sense of community, as well as social facilities in the surrounding area, such as meeting points for children and young people. Stakeholders are additional factors here as well as associations that are included in events at the airports or associations that are closely related to aviation, tourism or logistics.

Because of the night flights that operate at Leipzig/Halle Airport, the main focus of our involvement in the direct vicinity of the airport lies in the so-called night protection area.

Kooperationen “Donate your deposit“ cooperation arrangement – a German initiative launched by the “Green Dot” scheme

Bottles with a deposit are collected in a special container at Dresden Airport before passengers’ boarding cards are checked. Employees of INTHIS, a project organised by the Dresden City Mission Social Welfare Department to reintegrate former addicts in the jobs market, empty the containers. The bottles are handed over to the “Green Dot” scheme, which collects the deposit and handles the recycling. The deposit donation supports the social work of the Dresden City Mission Social Welfare Department and particularly the INTHIS project.
