Arrival by Bus or Train

Leipzig/Halle Airport has its own train station directly below the check-in area and is connected to local and long-distance Deutsche Bahn services. Passengers and visitors can easily reach the check-in hall by escalator and elevator. If you want to travel by train, you have several options.

The airport is also easily accessible by bus and long-distance bus. Various bus lines connect the airport with the surrounding area, while long-distance buses offer convenient connections to cities in the region and beyond. The bus stops are located in the immediate vicinity of the terminal and are well signposted.

Travel in comfort with the Train

You can reach Leipzig/Halle Airport via the S-Bahn Mitteldeutschland, which runs between Halle, Leipzig, Altenburg and Zwickau, using lines S5 and S5X. Trains run every half hour, with a journey time of 14 minutes from Leipzig Central Station and 10 minutes from Halle Central Station.

Leipzig/Halle Airport has excellent connections to the German long-distance rail network. You can reach the airport every two hours with Intercity trains from cities such as Dresden, Magdeburg, Hanover, Bielefeld and Cologne.

There are also numerous ICE trains from all over Germany to Halle (Saale) or Leipzig. From there you can get directly to the airport with just one quick change to the S-Bahn. This is how you can reach Leipzig/Halle Airport, for example:

  • from Berlin in approx. 1.5 hours
  • from Hamburg, Frankfurt am Main and Munich in around 3.5 hours

LVB night bus NXL

The night bus NXL offers two daily night bus connections in each direction for early arrivals and late departures to the airport. The buses depart from Leipzig Central Station at 0:50 and 02:22 and from the airport at 01:35 and 03:05. Stops in Eutritzsch, Gohlis, Möckern and Lindenthal will be served en route, extending the night bus service in these districts.

The timetable is integrated into the LVB night bus network and can be used with the MDV fare. Flights before 06:30 are thus easily accessible by local transport. The line is operated by Leipziger Verkehrsbetriebe (LVB).
